Why Does God Let your Loved Ones Die After you Prayed
Many Christians fast and pray for their loved one to get cured of the disease or rise from the sickbed at the hospital, but God does not answer their prayers. This causes some Christians to feel bitter and angry at God. So let us explore some of the reasons why God allows people to die.

A. God’s view on death
God views life and death differently from Christians and does not see it the same way as us.
- Life on Earth
When you read the New Testament, you realize that it is not God’s main priority to have people live long.
His priority is to get people saved (Luke 19:10). We need to remember that God has not promised a long life on earth for Christians.
- Death
God sees death as a sleep and something that is temporary (John 11:11-15, 1 Kings 2:10). He does not see it as an eternal loss because the person will be raised from the dead.
The Apostle Paul also viewed death differently than most Christians. He viewed being with Christ in death more preferable to being alive; he viewed death as a gain.
B. Three Reasons Why Some Christians Die
1. Some Christians have fulfilled their purpose.
We all have a purpose on earth, and we do not need to remain on earth once we have fulfilled it. Some Christians are upset that God did not heal their mother/father, who is over 80 years who no longer has anything to live for. Earth is a horrible place with suffering and crime.
This biblical scripture implies that God permits some of His people to pass away to spare them from suffering and the terrible tragedies that are yet to come.
Consequently, even though some people are Christians, they cannot handle the upcoming hardships. God wants everyone to be saved, so out of pity and mercy, He permits certain Christians to pass away. And only those who are resilient enough will endure hardships and continue to live.
Therefore death is also a release from needless suffering.
2. God foresees the potential future damage they can do
2.1. Lessons from King Hezekiah (2 Kings 20)
King Hezekiah was destined to die. However, according to 2 Kings 20:3-6, he lived an additional 15 years because he had a perfect heart, walked in truth, and had done what was right in God's eyes.
What happened because of the extension of Hezekiah’s life?
He permitted the visitors from Babylon to visit Israel and view all of their treasures. This ultimately led to Babylon capturing the sons of Hezekiah, the Israelites, and their possessions (2 Kings 20:15-18).
During the additional 15 years, he gave birth to a son named Manasseh. Manasseh was twelve years old when he started to rule and ruled for fifty-five years in Jerusalem, according to 2 Kings 21:1. According to 2 Kings 21:2–12, the son was evil and led the people to commit more sin than other countries. Because of Manasseh's influence, this led to God punishing the inhabitants of Jerusalem and Judah.
There would not have been any suffering if king Hezekiah had died when he was meant to.
2.2. Death of Children
This is probably the same case with children. Children can be good when they are young and innocent, but as they become older, they may opt to either stay good or turn into criminals and threaten the lives of others.
Therefore, I believe that God permits certain children to pass away at a young age because he is aware of the possibility that their current situation would cause them to end up in hell. Also, I believe that God permits some Christians to pass away earlier than others because He recognizes the potential harm resulting from others living longer.
The longer we live on this planet, the greater the likelihood that we will backslide, turn away from God, and inflict suffering on others.
3. Some Christians die because of an unhealthy lifestyle.
Many Christians eat and drink unhealthily to the point that they suffer from diabetes, heart disease, or other lifestyle diseases. The doctor informs them they will die if they continue the unhealthy lifestyle, but they do not. Eventually, their lifestyle disease becomes dire to the point that they are on life support. Then their family prays for them, but they die.
Why did God not answer their prayers?
The issue is that you cannot consume a cure for a problem, but continue to drink the poison causing the problem.
Some Christians are like a person who consumes cyanide and the cyanide antidote. Will they not die because they consume the antidote? No, they will die since they also are consuming the cyanide, although they will die at a slower rate. Therefore, if they do not want to die, they must stop consuming the cyanide.
You cannot pray against disease, but continue consuming the things that cause the disease. You need to stop consuming the things that cause the lifestyle disease, and you will be cured and not die.
C. Suffering and death are temporary.
There will be no death in heaven. A loved one might die and not be in your life for a few years or decades. However, you will spend billions of years with them in heaven.
D. Why do bad people take long to die
God gives wicked people many chances in the hope that they may finally repent and be redeemed. Therefore, they tend to live lengthy lives.
E. Why are you Still Alive
You are probably still alive because you have not fulfilled your purpose on earth, and you may have the resilience to endure the upcoming trials and sufferings. However, it is also possible that you need to improve your Christian character and develop more.
F. What is Better for your loved One?
Is it better for someone to live long and risk falling away from God and ending up in hell?
Or is it better that someone dies and ends up in heaven?
The longer we live on earth, the higher the chances we will be involved in sin. Atheism is on a steady increase. Some people were raised as Christians and backslide and get lost.
The Bible says that there will be more wickedness in the last days.
